What is phenolic resin?
Phenolic resin is also called bakelite, also known as bakelite powder. It used to be colorless or yellowish brown transparent material. It is usually sold in red, yellow, black, green, brown, blue and other colors with colorants, and it is in the form of particles and powder. It is resistant to weak acid and alkali, decomposes in case of strong acid and corrodes in case of strong alkali. Insoluble in water, soluble in acetone, alcohol and other organic solvents. Phenol aldehyde or its derivatives are polycondensated. The solid phenolic resin is yellow, transparent and amorphous, which is reddish due to the free phenol. The average specific gravity of the solid is about 1.7. It is easy to dissolve in alcohol and water. It is stable for water, weak acid and weak solution. The resin is made of phenol and formaldehyde by polycondensation, neutralization and water washing under the condition of catalyst. The new phenolic resin can be used as the bond of diamond wheel. If the new phenolic resin is used alone, the service life of grinding wheel is 8 times longer than that of phenolic resin, the strength of grinding wheel is about 30% higher than that of phenolic resin in production process, and the grinding effect is also improved.
